This studio opened in Burnaby in 2007 and is run by Peter Ferreira and Geraldine Goyer. They are renowned for performing and teaching Tango and also have outstanding West Coast Swing instruction. Currently, Amy Poon teaches their level 1 classes, and Ian Kirkconnell teaches the level 2 class. Dance Addicts also teach other styles of dance and their studio features a beautifully sprung bamboo floor and natural daylight lighting. While a fairly new studio, they have been doing a great job of growing the WCS community.

This dance studio doesn’t have a permanent location but offers a vast amount of knowledge and experience at various locations throughout the city. Ian Kirkconnell currently offers an advanced West Coast Swing course on Monday nights to WCS dancers with over 2 years experience. There is a waiting list to get into this fairly small class. Their website is currently under construction so call them for further information.

This studio is run by Maggie Bretton who is well known in Swing circles as she has a long association with West Coast Swing. Her studio teaches mostly latin styles of dance but is currently offering a basic course in West Coast Swing, and a "Continuation" course.

UBC Swing Kids

Swing Kids is a campus social dance club who’s primary focus is Swing dancing which includes Lindy Hop, the dance that West Coast Swing originated from. They also offer Track 1 and Track 2 West Coast Swing classes for beginners and more experienced students respectively on Thursday evenings. Their classes are taught by Dave Tolksdorff and Krystle Veerman who have earned a reputation for starting students out right. Their students are getting noticed at dances throughout the city. You'll find them on the UBC campus but you don't have to be a student to partake. All ages are welcome though the majority are students.

This studio is run by Graeme Oxendale and his wife, Elizabeth Hudgins. They teach other styles of dance besides West Coast Swing which for some unknown reason, they also refer to as Funky Swing so don’t be confused. They’ve been teaching in Vancouver since 1999 and do a tremendous job of introducing West Coast Swing to new dancers in the city. You’ll find their instructors both excellent and entertaining. Their West Coast Swing classes are taught by the following instructors on Tuesdays and Sundays:

  • Level 1: Graeme Oxendale, Pamela Podmoroff, Lily Harned, and Elizabeth Hudgins
  • Level 2: Pamela Podmoroff, and Elizabeth Hudgins
  • Level 3: Graeme Oxendale, Lily Harned, and Elizabeth Hudgins
  • Level 4 (Invitational): Pamela Podmoroff, Dave Tolksdorff, and Elizabeth Hudgins

The AMS Minischool began offering West Coast Swing lessons in the fall of 2010 just down the hall from the UBC Swing Kids classes. Tessa Cunningham teaches these classes on Tuesday nights to students comfortable with their 6 and 8 count basics. You should have previously taken at least one series of WCS classes before taking this class. AMS offers this class series twice annually; one starts in September, the other in January.
